Privacy Policy
How we approach your data across our applications, including FogMap.
Our approach
Our applications are designed so that your personal data stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your data, and we do not track you across apps or websites. FogMap's App Store privacy stance is “Data Not Collected.”
1. Data Controller
JiSvis (sole proprietorship / toiminimi), Business ID (Y-tunnus) 3631651-7, Finland. JiSvis (“we”, “us”, “our”) is the controller for any processing described in this policy.
2. Contact
For privacy questions and data-subject requests: support@jisvis.fi
3. What data FogMap uses
- Location (on-device only). With your permission, FogMap uses your device location — including in the background — solely to reveal (“unfog”) the map areas you have visited. The revealed-areas data (a coarse grid of visited cells) is stored only on your device. Raw location history is not stored as a track and is not sent off the device.
- Background location. Background access exists only to keep revealing areas while the app is not in the foreground. You can revoke it in iOS Settings at any time.
- Diagnostics (optional, on-device). If you export a diagnostics log for support, it is generated on your device and shared only if you choose to send it. Exported diagnostics do not contain raw coordinates — they are redacted.
- No analytics, no crash SDKs, no advertising ID, no cookies. FogMap includes no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.
4. No tracking
FogMap does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission and does not track users.
5. In-app purchases
FogMap offers a one-time, non-consumable purchase (“FogMap Full”). Purchases are processed by Apple, not us. We do not receive your payment card details; your entitlement is verified through Apple's StoreKit, and no server of ours is involved. Apple's handling of App Store transactions is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
6. Crash data via Apple
If you opt in to Apple's “Share With App Developers,” Apple may share anonymous, aggregated crash diagnostics with the developer. This contains no identifiers and is handled by Apple under Apple's terms. We run no separate telemetry.
7. Storage, retention, deletion
- Revealed-areas data and settings live on your device (app sandbox / iOS settings storage).
- You can erase all map data in-app using “Clear all map data.”
- Deleting the app removes its on-device data.
- There is no server-side retention, because no data is collected server-side.
8. Legal basis & your GDPR rights
Because we do not collect or receive your personal data, there is normally no data held by us to access, rectify, or erase. You nevertheless have the EU/GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability. Requests can be sent to support@jisvis.fi. For data stored on your device, use iOS Settings or the in-app “Clear all map data” option. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Authority (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto).
9. Children
FogMap is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Third parties & data sharing
We do not share or sell your data. The only third party is Apple, solely for App Store distribution and payment processing, under Apple's own privacy policy.
11. International transfers
Since we collect no data, there are no international transfers initiated by us. Any processing by Apple is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
12. Changes to this policy
Material changes will be posted here with an updated effective date.
